Breakout add-on

The CTRL ONE add-on system uses a set of 8 fine-pitch 1.27 mm pins that mate with a purpose-built add-on board; their small size can make it awkward to attach your own wiring. This breakout add-on converts those 8 pins to the standard 2.54 mm pitch found on most electronics.

See the add-on connector page for what each pin does and how to use them with ESPHome.

Prototyping with jumper wires

The 2.54 mm pins accept standard female-to-female jumper wires, so components can be connected without soldering or PCB manufacturing. The headers are on the underside of the board, allowing it to fit within the thin profile of the CTRL ONE enclosure. Jumper wires are not included.

Power

The add-on header exposes a 3.3 V output and a VCC input that accepts 5 V to 28 V DC. The VCC connection can power the CTRL ONE from an external power supply, and the 3.3 V line can power connected low-power sensors.

Safety notes

Do not use the USB port while powering the device through an external power supply. While every effort has been made to ensure nothing bad will happen, we are not responsible for damage to the CTRL ONE or connected devices when caused by third-party power supplies.

Note: early revision boards from the first batch have a misprint. IO9 should read IO1, as it exposes GPIO1 on the ESP32. This will be corrected in future batches and does not affect functionality.
